Prerequisite: PSY 211 or consent of the instructor. This course discusses the theories, research, and applications of the main ideas in the study of language development. It provides students with solid grounding in the psychological approach to language acquisition from birth through the school age years. Topics include the development of phonological, lexical, morphological, syntatic, and pragmatic abilities as well as exploration of bilingualism and language learning in school-age children.
