This course is an introduction to the principles of soil science, including the formation of soils; physical, chemical, and biological properties of soils; soil classification; and soil management. Laboratory exercises provide practical experiences in the nature and properties of soils. (Students intending to transfer to Kansas State University must take a semester of college-level chemistry either before enrolling in this class or the same semester as enrolling in this class.)
