NEW! Introduction to Bird Watching Pre: Co: Learning to watch birds can be an eye-opening experience! In spring and summer, bird species are abundant and offer excellent observation opportunities. Attend a three-hour lecture the first week then three hours of field study in an "outdoor classroom". Learn what you need to begin bird identification: special characterizations, behavior patterns, habitat preference, and vocalizations. In the outdoor classroom, observe birds at productive bird watching sites, focusing on observation and identification techniques. Our field study component may have a parking or admission fee and will require walking over gentle terrain at a slow pace. You must provide your own transportation to the outdoor classroom. Dress for the weather - long-sleeved shirt, long pants, hat, sunscreen, sturdy shoes, and insect repellent are suggested.
