Preserving the Harvest: An Introduction to Canning Pre: Co: Put your summer in a jar and learn the basics of modern-day canning and preserving using the boiling/water bath canning method. Learn about equipment, sterilization, safety, and labeling for contest or fair entry. Techniques will range from pickling, to hot-pack, raw-pack, jams, jellies, preserves, conserves, butters, and applesauce. Creative packaging ideas will turn your hard work into great gifts for family and friends. Please bring: potholders, a water bath canner with rack, a canning tools set, and one box of wide-mouth pint jars. A $90 perishables fee is payable to the instructor at the first class.
