North Shore Community College
Subject:
CAREER DEVELOPMENT
Description:
Wine Harvest: From Vineyard to Bottle Pre: Co: Alfalfa Farm Winery is offering a look behind the scenes at what it takes to make wine in New England. Learn about both viticulture and vinification. Gain insight into the winemaking process as we monitor the progress of the grapes before harvest and decide on a harvest date. Then join in the harvest and follow the grapes through fermentation until they are put to rest for the winter. The harvest date and fermentation classes will vary depending on the weather. Students are advised to dress suitably for winemaking activities. Limitations: no alcohol, wine or sulfite allergies; must be able to walk through the vineyard on uneven surfaces. First class meets on Saturday, September 19th. Subsequent classes will meet starting on the determined harvest date in October. Most classes will meet on Saturdays, with the possibility of Sunday rain dates.
