Advanced Field Ecology Pre: BIO130 and permission of instructor Co: This course is for students who have already participated in BIO130: Neotropical Ecology, who would like to advance their knowledge and skills in Tropical Field Ecology even further. Students taking Advanced Field Ecology will be expected to take on a leadership role in the course, working with the instructor to guide and educate BIO130 students as they explore in the field the ecology of neotropical rainforests. Students will be expected to gain expertise in specific areas of tropical ecology and to demonstrate this expertise in the field. This course may be physically demanding and include hikes in various types of remote tropical environments. Students in Advanced Field Ecology are expected to demonstrate and practice the leadership skills required to successfully and safely lead an educational experience of this nature. There is a minimum of 8 pre-trip lecture hours, 90 hours of field study and one 3 hour meeting after the trip. (100+ hours total)
