This course is intended for students entering into professions whose work may bring them into contact with issues associated with human sexuality. It is designed to inform students about contemporary sexual issues and to help them become aware of how their personal values and beliefs may interfere with their work. Class sessions will focus on providing theory, knowledge, and research in sexual behaviors, sexual issues, and introduce students to educational and therapeutic interventions. Class sessions will be a combination of lecture and discussion. Course content will include cross-cultural perspectives on sexual behavior and contemporary society, current and controversial issues in sexuality, sex education, and the effects of economics, class, public policy, and the political climate on expression of human sexuality.
