This course introduces effective reading strategies to improve basic reading comprehension and recall. Emphasis is placed on the literal comprehension level, expanding vocabulary and spelling proficiency. Specific skills include: pre-reading, increasing reading rate and flexibility, effective use of a dictionary, recognizing main ideas, supporting details, and context clues, improving memory, and using reading strategies such as note taking and strategies to aid concentration and memory.
