The purpose of this didactic course is to prepare Advanced Geropsych students to assess, diagnose, and manage selected health care needs of older adults, especially those with mental health problems. The focus is on advanced practice nursing with older adults and families in primary and acute care settings. Emphasis is on wellness and the pathophysiology and epidemiology underlying acute and chronic health problems, and on clinical management for older adults.
