SOCI 388 -- Violent Crime (3) This course examines the patterns, causes and prevention of violent crime in the United States. By examining violence as both a behavior separate from criminal activity as well as a criminal act, we will examine how violence is transformed into criminal voilence as a social process. Through an examination of the social construction of violence throughout history and various cultures, this course will explore various categories of violent crime. Prerequisite: SOCI 101.
