This course is designed to advance the student's knowledge of the structure and function of the vocal mechanism. The class addresses issues of both performance and the teaching of singing. Topics include exploring the relationship of function to artistry, breathing and the muscles involved in breathing, the history of vocal science, vocal health/longevity, method of self evaluation, performance challenges, teaching skills and studio management. The skills needed to teach private voice will be emphasized as well as practical skills for classroom instruction.
