This course reviews a number of related clinical problems including: cleft lip and palate; laryngectomy; tracheotomy and ventilator dependency medical speech pathology. Issues, methods, and philosophies related to teaching esophageal speech, TEP voice, and use of mechanical instruments, as means of providing voice to laryngectomized individuals will be reviewed. Principles and methods of assessment and treatment within an interdisciplinary rehabilitation framework will be reviewed.
