This course reviews the characteristics of sound as a physical phenomenon. Students will learn about the generation, transmission, and perception of speech. The acoustic characteristics and perceptual features of sounds and the feedback systems employed to monitor production of these sounds will be examined. Methods for studying speech, including instrumentation and research, findings will be reviewed.
