This course focuses on the difficulties associated with providing drug therapy and pharmaceutical care in the over-65 population group. This course will provide knowledge in identifying, preventing, and reducing drug related problems in both ambulatory and long-term care patients. Topics included are principles of human aging and changes in drug pharmacokinetics and pharmaco- dynamics, drug prescribing in the elderl and drug-related problems in the elderly, the comprehensive geriatric assessment of the ambulatory elderly patient, and the consultant pharmacist in long-term care drug regimen review.
