This course is an exploration of the relationship of liturgy and the music which expresses the rituals of liturgy. Fifteen areas of liturgical celebration in the worship life of the church are analyzed, set into historical perspective, and evaluated as to their effectiveness in parish life including: the demands of ritual, theology of the rites and their musical expression, and pastoral issues in their celebration.
