This course is intended to address those unique issues faced by parishes involved in community outreach activities. Topics covered will include: shelters for the homeless, food pantries, day care centers for infants and the aged, and hospices. Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to: Recognize the benefits and challenges of outreach activities; Evaluate the need for an activity and determine whether to meet the need alone or as a joint effort with another parish or organization; Establish an activity and assess its impact on the community; Discontinue a community service activity.
