This course provides an introduction to modern issues in business and canon law. Topics covered include: contracts, property law, agency, churches and non-profit organizations, insurance, estates and trusts, and government regulation of employment. Upon successful completion of this course the student will: Understand laws relating to purchasing contracts and warranties; Be familiar with laws of agency governing actions of employees and volunteers acting on behalf of the Church; Be aware of government employment regulations, as well as those dealing with religious and non-profit organizations; Understand codes of canon law dealing with parish management and their relationship to state and federal laws.
