The films by Griffith, Murnau, Lang and Pabst (to mention a few) selected for study, deal with some of the most crucial and pressing issues of modernity ¿ the dialectic of illusion and reality, the question of femme fatale, the relation of nature and city, freedom and capital, technology and gender.
