Description:
This course surveys the rights and liabilities of employees and employers in a nonunion context. Types of legislation studied include workers¿ compensation, unemployment compensation, social security, occupational safety and health, and regulation of wages, hours and working conditions. Historical background, statutory language, and judicial and administrative interpretation are studied. Additionally, the course will survey modern judicial and legislative developments in the area of wrongful discharge and modification of the common law doctrines relating to the ¿at-will¿ employee.
