Description:
Examination of the archaeology and art of the ancient Roman world-as well as its literature, epigraphy, and later sources-enables us to reconstruct the history and culture of these people and their predecessors. In this course, in addition to studying archaeological techniques and the history of archaeology, we will examine Roman history and culture through its artifacts, art and architecture. We will also discuss such central issues as archaeological ethics and legality, collections, and public display in order to have better understanding of archaeology as a discipline.
