Description:
The fundamental principles and concepts of chemistry are presented from the standpoint of atomic and molecular structure with illustrative examples from descriptive chemistry. The laboratory portion of the first semester illustrates physical and chemical properties in a quantitative manner, and the laboratory portion of the second semester illustrates the principle of ionic equilibria including quantitative inorganic analysis. Prerequisite for CHEM 121: Math 104 (College Algebra and Trigonometry) or a Math SAT greater than 500 and/or Math Placement Exam score greater than 17. Toldeo Chemistry Placement Exam is required by all students. Lecutre, three hours; recitation, two hours.
