This course requires students to develop a comprehensive understanding of the structure and function of the essential nutrients, their physiological effects on the body, and the methods by which those nutrients may influence function and performance. Current and scientific information on eating disorders, body composition and weight management, special dietary considerations, disordered eating, and ergogenic aids also is discussed. The development of a unique, patient-specific comprehensive dietary analysis and nutrition and exercise plan is required as part of the course requirements.
