Description:
This course is based upon NFPA 1002 chapter 2 as it relates to fire apparatus driver operations. The course’s primary focus is on the responsibilities and duties of the fire service engine/truck operator. Special attention is given to safety issues related to the operation of emergency vehicles. Specialized training consists of instruction in such areas as; legal issues, theory and principles of defensive driving, vehicle inspections, and state and local regulations. A practical evolution is made part of this course. Prerequisite: Students must be a member of a certified professional / volunteer fire department, law enforcement agency or by permission of Program Director. Successful completion of Scene Support Operations or Firefighter I or equivalent and a valid driver’s license is required for attendance. Campus and term: J occasionally
