This course will explore the role of the poet laureate in the United States. Besides looking at the timeline of poets laureate, this class will discuss various specific works and projects, such as Billy Collins' Poetry 180 and Ted Kooser's American Life in Poetry. This course will also inlcude a trip to Chautauqua Institution to hear past Poet Laureate Billy Collins on July 10th.
