Description:
This course will be a sophomore level experience. Students will learn good laboratory practices by gaining experience in laboratory work, including how to prepare reagents, keep a lab notebook, design controlled experiments and leadership skills. Techniques to be learned include DNA extraction, restriction enzyme digestion; apoptosis methodologies, tissue culture, and if there is time immunflourescence techniques. Students will assist in the preparation of the biotechnology lab materials for several courses and play a part in laboratory instruction.
