Description:
This course represents a capstone experience for senior Chemistry majors. The course will be team taught by all members of the department , and professors will lead discussions on current topics in chemistry that will require students to assimilate knowledge from the various courses they have taken both in and outside their major. Ethics in science with be addressed. Seminars will be given by guest speakers. Students will be required to write a review paper based on peer-reviewed literature, an original research proposal, and will be required to give two talks during the semester. Students will take a diagnostic field exam in chemistry at the end of the semester. Prerequisites: CHEM 48700; Senior-level chemistry majors only. 3 credits. (S,Y)
