A comprehensive, chronological survey of the literary tradition regarding women from the Middle Ages to the present. The first semester generally explores the British tradition. Emphasis on the relationship of women to society, women writers and the developing tradition of feminist literary criticism. Either course may be taken. Applicable to Women’s Studies minor. 3 hours lecture, one semester; 3 credits.
