SW 496+ - Senior Field Education in Social Work

Provides the student with the opportunity to work in a social work setting on a full-time basis (400 hours total), performing all duties and responsibilities of the entry-level generalist social worker. A weekly integration seminar is held in conjunction with the field placement to discuss practical experience and to develop advanced social work skills. The course is open to seniors only and fulfills senior capstone experience. Prerequisites: SW203, SW295, SW305,306 SW310, SW313, SW323, SW390; SW414, SW440 may be taken with SW496; successful completion of 2 social work electives; successful completion of the Accuplacer and Writeplacer Plus; and 3.0 average in major courses. Offered each year. 6 credits.
