Continuation and conclusion of first semester course Biochemistry I (CH311). Metabolism of carbohydrates including the following topics: glycolysis, gluconeogenesis, pentose phosphate pathway, glycogen synthesis and degradation, the citric acid cycle, and oxidative phosphorylation. Integration of mtabolism studying lipid, amino acid and nucleic acid metabolism. Gene replication and expression: DNA structure, replication and repair; RNA synthesis and splicing; control of gene expression prokaryotes and eukaryotes. Offered in the Spring. Prerequisite: BI115, CH311. 3 hours lecture, 3 hours laboratory; 4 credits.
