Sport Marketing is the application of promotion and marketing in college/high school athletics, professional sports, corporate fitness clubs and resorts. This course which is taught partially online and partically in the classroom provides an overview of law as it affects sports-related activities, as well as careers in sports in which knowledge of the current laws affecting the different sports is needed in which to compete in this relatively new and exciting field. Topics that will be covered include but are not limited to: strategic marketing management, studies of sports consumers, data-based marketing and the role of research in sport marketing, electronic media, coordinating and controlling the marketing mix, and the legals aspects of sport marketing. 3 credits.
