This class is designed to be a survey of the legal issues associated with what is commonly referred to as Sports Law. Law affecting a range of sports-related activities are examined including the following: application of contract law to sports relationships, stand form contracts in sports; the doctrine of restraint of trade; competition law as applied to sports; internal regulation of sports, including topics such as discipline, natural justice and rights of atheletes; civil and criminal ability arising from participation in and management of sport; the internationalization of sports law; and dispute resolution in sport. 3 credits.
