A study of topics in molecular genetics, building on fundamental concepts covered in BI116. Topics include advanced Mendelian inheritance, genetic mapping, gene expression and regulation, DNA structure, replication, recombination, mutagenesis, biotechnology and genomics. Laboratory work involves project-oriented experiments using contemporary molecular techniques. Prerequisites: BI115, 116 and CH113;114 or permission of chairperson. 3 hours lecture, 3 hours laboratory, one semester; 4 credits. Offered alternating Fall semesters.
