In this course, candidates acquire knowledge of the philosophical, historical, cultural, and societal factors that impact the education of English language learners in the United States. Components of dual language programs will be identified; discussion regarding the provision of instruction in the New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards will ensue. Candidates will demonstrate commitment and competence related to the New Jersey Professional Standards for Teachers as they apply to English language learners. Three credits, one semester.
