Description:
This four day course is geared to sizing systems for both grid-tie and off-grid PV systems. Successful completion of the course prepares participants to take the NABCEP PV Systems Entry Level Exam. Class objectives include learning basic theory, operation, characteristics and parameters of solar cells; how to site, design, and install photovoltaic (PV) systems; solar resource, shading considerations, orientation and tilt for PV arrays; basic grid-tie and off-grid sizing and design of systems to power a given load, safety practices for installers and electrical code for PV systems. Serveral hands-on activities are scheduled to reinforce the concepts learned in class, including the use of solar irradiance meter, solar path finder, etc., that will be capped by the installation of a full size PV demonstration system.
