This workshop introduces families to the step-by-step process for helping high school students find the "right" college that truly matches up with their own individual needs and interests. Students will learn how to assess their particular learning style and prioritize their "must haves" as a critical first step in the college inquiry and application process. Other topics will include accessing, organizing and evaluating marketing and informational materials; creating a long list of potential matches; and developing strategies for communicating with college admission officers, high school guidance counselors and other prospective references as well as their own parents. Students also will receive topics on how to ensure a successful search, including how to present a strong profile while remaining true to who they are. Families will leave the workshop with an understanding of how careful planning, coupled with honest and thoughtful reflection, can help minimize stress, promote informed decisions and bring happy results.
