With approximately 34 percent of the American population considered obese, it is highly likely that EMS interface with this population will become the rule instead of the exception. During this lecture, we will define obesity, why people become obese, the disease process of an obese patient, EMS considerations when encountering an obese patient, as well as medical and trauma emergencies for the obese patients.
