Specific topics include deductive and inductive arguments, vagueness and ambiguity, credibility, logical fallacies, causal reasoning, as well as some elements of modern symbolic logic. Application will be made to the use and evaluation of arguments in ordinary language (political discourse, marketing, sermons, etc.). First semester. Offered alternate years.
