Doctoral candidates working on their dissertations are required to maintain residency during each semester (fall, spring, and MOD 5) when they are not registered for a dissertation course (PHD 910, 912, 914, 916, or 980). Students can maintain residency by registering for PHD 901 which carries a one credit charge. PHD 901 is not counted as an academic credit and will be assigned an "R" (for research) on transcripts-students do have the option of registering for a credit bearing course to maintain residency.
