The purpose of the qualifying examination is to determine whether or not the student has learned, analyzed, synthesized and evaluated subject content in the core program as well as his or her specific area of interest. It also tests the student's ability to engage in research. The student must be able to integrate and apply the results of academic coursework in the areas of research, leadership, and a specific area of concentration. The qualifying examination is developed by faculty teaching in the program and is based on course content as defined by course syllabi. Grading is P+ Passing with Honors, P Passing, F Fail.
