As deemed appropriate, the department will provide a variety of "special" seminars addressing current issues within the field of addictions and mental health treatment. HIV, Adolescents, Specialized Testing, Advanced Family Issues, and Life Span Development are just some of the potential courses that could be offered to broaden the student's experience, as well as assuring that advancements and changes have a mechanism to be addressed within the program structure. Depending on the issue(s) identified, this course can be utilized as an elective for one, two, or all three areas of concentration.
