Description:
This course is designed to prepare future teachers with basic knowledge, strategies, and materials in art, music, and theater to plan, implement, and integrate this knowledge in a elementary school setting. Issues such as student growth and development in the arts, curriculum selection and planning, classroom management, assessment strategies, and very importantly the specifics of historical/cultural, critical, aesthetics and production in the arts will be addressed. General art education philosophies, integration of art, music, and theater, the service learning process, and current issues will be discussed and nurtured. Students will demonstrate basic technical and artistic skills with elementary art, music, and theater materials.
