Description:
This course will introduce students to prokaryotic cell structure and function, as well as growth and its regulation Basic topics include biosynthesis of DNA, RNA and protein. Also, intermediary metabolism and microbial fermentation will be studied. Transfer of genetic information in prokaryotes and regulation of gene expression will be covered in this course. Three lectures per week. Enroll- ment in this course is limited to students in the Microbiology Track. However, other biology students may take this course upon approval by the coordinator of Micro- biology Track. Prerequisites: BIO 325, 460, and acceptance into the Microbiology Track.
