A concentrated study of diseases which have impacted civilizations, from the Roman Empire through the 20th century. This course explores the fundamental relationship between disease and the shaping of political nations, with emphasis on both historical background and pathology of selected biological and chemical diseases. The historical background, epidemiological and biological aspects of disease, and historical impact of each disease will be discussed.
