A surveey of the visual arts of Native North Americans from ancient times, to European contact and up to the present and from the Arctic to Mexico and Mesoamerica to Panama. Art and architecture will be studied in its cultural context. Emphasis on the first nations of Mesoamerica and the contiguous U.S. Slide lectures, readings, video, museum visits, field trips workshops. No prerequisite.
