A study of the structure and function of health care as a societal institution. Socio-cultural and structural factors that influence (1) health care professionals146 role development and performance; (2) families146 health practices, use of the health care system, and illness behavior; and (3) the interactions of clients and professionals. Critiques of the U.S. health care system and proposed reforms are examined. Prerequisite for SOC 316: SOC 211 or equivalent.* Spring Term.
