Corporations have undergone a seismic shift, from being functionally oriented organizations to becoming process-based organizations. This course will enable students to drive performance in the corporations of the twenty-first century. Students will learn how to map existing business processes and analyze them using process frameworks. Business processes include order entry to cash, idea generation to product realization, supplier relationship management, customer relationship management, reverse logistics management, product lifecycle management, information lifecycle management, and many others. Students will learn ways of modifying, restructuring, or re-engineering existing processes and how to model and develop new processes to achieve desired results. Specific skill-sets gained from this course will include process mapping, process measurement, creating and managing gobal process redesign teams, evaluating and managing business process outsourcing, project management, and reporting to executive management for decision-making. Hands-on experience with software and other tools for each skill-set will be a key component of the course. Prerequisite: BUS 250 and BUS 271.
