A detailed study of the art of jazz improvisation that includes both analysis and performance. Areas of focus will include melody, song form, key area indentification and scale application. Melodies studied will include selections from basic jazz repertoire including modes, blues and major key areas. Prerequisites: MUS 120, 121 or consent of instructor. Fall Term.
