Description:
An intensive studio course with a focus on figure drawing. Direct observation of the model will be informed by a study of anatomy for artists (skeleton and large muscle groups) and by study of evolving meaning and conventions of Western figure traditions, from the classical to modern period. Slide presentations, readings, and museum visits will supplement studio work. A broad variety of media allows work in line, tone, and color. Materials fee may apply. Prerequisite: one drawing or painting course, or permission of the instructor.
