This studio course is designed to further expand a student's ability to visually express themselves through alternative photographic imaging. Students learn how to mix chemicals and hand apply photo sensitive emulsions onto various artist papers and/or fabric for their images. The course will explore a variety of processes - a tentative list includes: gum bichromate printing, hand coloring black and white prints, cyanotype (blueprint), Van Dyke (brown print), solvent and Polaroid transfers, Kwik Print, alladium printing, cliche verre and Xerography. Students will also learn to work with Kodak Duplicating films. These techniques will allow the student to create altered, manipulated and hand crafted images that will greatly extend the possibilities of their photographic expression. Materials fee. Prerequisite: ART 232, 233.
