Taught at HVCC for ATE program only. This course provides an introduction to the technology and terminology of data communications and local area networks (LANs). Topics include data communications concepts, fundamentals of data transmission, multiplexing, local area networks, topologies, transmission media, network interfaces , and access method. Upon completion of this course, students should understand the fundamentals of data communications and network configurations, be able to access different types of networks, have hands-on experience with a LAN, be able to work with state of the art network technology, and have experience with shared resources and interconnectin LAN.
